ORPC, St.Andrews, and Choir

As you know, I like to sing.. actually it’s not only singing, but to gather friends and I meet people from around the world. Guess where am I ?

orpc1.JPG

We have great time together. Last December 2006 I join the choir for Christmas Carol Concert. And for the last time before I will go back home, I will join the Tenebrae Service, which is The Service of darkness. ( sounds scarry isn’t it… ).

But actually Tenebrae Service is a service that follows the tradition of the church dating back to the eighth century. From the Latin word of Thenebrae , which means darkness and memorates the final hours of our Lord’s life on earth as he suffered death upon the cross.

I promised to upload some pics here, since I have trouble in uploading it now…..

By the way, happy easter everyone… God Bless You.

All That She Wants….

written by Christine Wonoseputro about every woman’s dream of everlasting happiness.

Today my friend is driving me with a new expensive car, and suddenly

my mind just flying by, in the middle of busy road and heavy rain of the day.

I sit in near the window, and I look outside across the street,

beneath the crowded bus stop, because of the rain.

I saw some ladies running to reach the shelter and the other lady tries to prevent their little children from the rain. Altough it was a heavy rain, they still can make joke each other.

Suddenly, I realize that I’m in Singapore right now, this is really not my hometown.

After we reach the carpark, the other gorgeous lady come, parking her expensive Benz car. She is so pretty, eventhough I can see that she’s not young enough.

I can see if that heavy rain didn’t bother her at all. She was driving a comfortable Benz. I can scent the aroma of Channel from her when she was crossing in front of me , and I saw she worn Prada latest tote bag. She’s so elegant. She was going inside Takashimaya and I saw that she talked to a man that probably she knew before. That man seem really know how to serve her as a lady. He let her come in first, opened the door for her, and act respectful to her.

Then my mind suddenly flying flash back to the bus shelter, when some other ordinary ladies probably still waiting for their bus. The elegant lady is now standing in front of me, then this question really coming to my mind . I  look at her diamond ring, her Prada bag, and her nice make up… is that all that  she wants? I saw her smiling at me, and I smiling back to her. Is she really happy?

For most of women, diamonds, pearls, and expensive clothes probably everythings. But deep in their hearts, it’s not really enough. Some women who have everything sometimes feel deep down in loneliness and unhappiness.  I don’t know why, most of guys usually try to  attract their couples with  gorgeous things ( so did my ex boyfriend )– but after long time relationship, it means nothing. Women do not really need it. Actually, what woman want is more that Benz or BM, diamond rings, expensive parfumes and all of those things that can be given by man.

After a long time relationship, most of people become bored, and the feeling between couple become plain, tasteless. Because what the women need is actually the openess of true feeling, true love, and caring by their couple. That’s why a lot of woman look for another relationship with another person. Because they didn’t really get what actually they want from their couple.

That lady has disappeared from my sight. But across my mind there is another person that I know . I do hope that gorgeous lady like her has really had all that she wants…

Today Reflection : The Story of Life

written by Christine Wonoseputro as Thanksgiving Reflection.

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day, and there are a lot of things that I have to share with all of you :

When sky does not always blue,

And sun does not always shine,

Suddenly I realize that it is parts of life that we should be thankful of,

Although life is not as smooth and easy as we hope…

But people in our life teach us so many things about how we should face our life,

To make life as the wonderful thing of God’s giving.

As from Joey, I learn about how tough she is as a girl and a woman, facing her life as an independent woman. She solved every problem without dragging anyone into the depht of symphaty of herself. In contrary, she always make me laugh and happy.

As from Dewi, I learn about how kind and helpful she is. Thanks for being my good friend, I hope not only in Singapore, but in the future, too.

As from Dorkas, I saw how God has change her life. How the things that we never saw before, become a dream come true in the future because of His name.

As from Liang Hwee, how coincidence, that we met! Nice to know you, I pray for your projects and your work. God bless you sister.

As from Andy, how mature he is compare to his own age. He is more suitable to be a big brother than a little brother to me. Thank you for your kind attentions and being a good leader to our class.

As from Sheung-Hwa, even we’re just met, I felt that I have been in the same position of you as a mother and working woman. It is really nice to meet you! Keep praise His name!

As from Rev.Hadi and his wife, thanks for the spirits of serving that you have shared with me. God bless you as a humble servant of His name. Glory to God In His Throne!

As from Jerry, I learn about how to be a good lecturer. To hear and spend his time for his students no matter how busy he is, especially for being a nice “shoulder -to -cry on” among all of us during our hard study period.

As from Kent, I learn about how life should be balance. I learn about how knowledge should be shared and transposed to the juniors - by letting us joining his research trips. He always gives us comforting comments, that in contrary has been making us even embarrased with our own works. Thanks for being nice lecturer for all of us!

As from Casey, I know how patient he is to all of us. He has been our lecturer who lets himself driving his car for all of us during some trips. Thanks for being our lecturer.

And the last but not least, is from Peter. That accident has make me learn a lot of things in my life. That life is worthy than everything that we have. I like you as a creative, humble and hard working person. And I hope all the best for you, your work, and whatever you do. Thank you for sharing your experience of your life with us.

Thank you all for taking parts in my life. God bless you… and Happy Thanksgiving.

KL : Going To Prepare The Visit Malaysia 2007

Hii… I’m back again.  This time I will tell you about my last malaysia trip. It’s in KL…… KL is a big city. KL is a such nice place also. Previously, Joey mentioned that it was a scary place to visit, but I think that my place is even scarrier.  Especially if you are going out at night alone. It is really not save.

The word Kula Lumpur itself came from the word kuala ( place ) and lumpur ( mud ). because kuala lumpur is the place of thin mining in the past, so there are a lot of mud around of that place because of the mining. So,according to its history,Kuala Lumpur has its own legend.

I have a beautiful room with a very nice background at the Grand Continental Hotel. I can see the sun rise behind the twin Petronas tower… ( I think the other’s room don’t have this beautiful view ).. Check it :

Melacca : Tracing Back The History

Hello……. I just came from study trip. Tired…and tired……..

andy-and-me.JPG

Andy -”the laughing Budha” and me at Jonker Street ( now Jalan Hang Jebat - Chinatown of Melacca )

We’re going to Malaysia yesterday. It’s really a nice trip. Especially Melacca. It ’s really amazing ….. a place with exotic historical sites and architectural heritage… For, me this town is a little bit like Jember in east Java, but for us this town seems very rich in order to trace back South East Asia History, especially history of its architecture.

buah-melaka.JPG

Buah Melaka, where was the word Melacca came from.

At Melacca, we are visiting a lot of interesting places. the first night, we are going to Kampong Portugese, the place where the Portugeses stay at Melacca. As we know in history, European, including Portugese came to Melacca to seek for spices. Some of them stayed adn married to local people and make their own community here. Papa Joe, the owner of the Portugese restaurant ( the place of where we had dinner that night ) sang a song for us.

papa-joe-and-me.JPG
Andy, Me, and Papa Joe

And at the second day we were transfering to… Amsterdam! hehe, no, It’s still in Melacca. But without the sign of Melacca in this picture, you must be think that it was in Netherland. because it has the windmill, too!

At that night, “Mr. Neo” who is our “funky lecturer” introduce me to the local delight call lok - lok, which is the speciality of Melacca. It was satay celup. I told him that this satay celup in Indonesia would probably similar to our “batagor” which also have fish meat, beancurd, and eggs that being eaten with satay sauce.

lok-lok-time.JPG

Bahasa Indonesia ( sorry who don’t understand ): Ya ampun, …orang malaka jualan sate celup aja bisa buka restoran. Ngetop lagi. terus opor ayam sama pepes ikan dicari - cari orang Singapore. Gimana kalo pulang gue investasi bikin restoran “batagor’ aje ye.. atau buka restoran ” opor ayam” sama garang asem. Rasane podo ae bok ! Gitu ae dicari - cari orang Singapore.Terus takkasi nama restoran peranakan bibik christine atau bibik ratna …adoh jelek amat. Soale di sini menurut brosur ada resto bibik neo ngetop banget jualane: semur!

The old city of Melacca. We can feel and trace the history from the sense of this place. They try preserve the Portugese ship ( its a replica ) to remind people about the coming of western people to this region.
